New York City FC II Sign Academy Product El Hadji Samb to Professional Contract
New York City FC have announced that Academy product El Hadji Samb has signed his first professional contract with MLS NEXT Pro side New York City FC II.
The 16 year old forward has signed with NYCFC II through the end of the 2028 season. He will then move up to the club's First Team as a Homegrown player on an MLS contract running through the 2030 season, with club options for 2031 and 2032.
Samb has enjoyed a breakout season with New York City FC II, becoming a regular in the side despite being just 16 years old. He has made 12 appearances in MLS NEXT Pro this season, starting nine matches while scoring two goals and providing four assists.
The Manhattan native joined the New York City FC Academy in 2023 and has quickly climbed through the club's development pathway. After making his MLS NEXT Pro debut in April, he wasted little time making an impact, registering both his first goal and first assist in only his second appearance for NYCFC II.
Sporting Director Todd Dunivant believes Samb's progress is another example of the club's commitment to developing young talent.

"Since progressing through our Academy, El Hadji has made a positive impact with New York City FC II this season, and we're looking forward to supporting his continued growth as he progresses toward the First Team."
For Samb, signing his first professional contract marks the latest step in what has been a rapid rise through the Academy ranks.

I'm excited to continue working hard, developing as a player and reaching my full potential."
At just 16 years old, Samb has already shown he has the ability to compete at the professional level. With his future now secured, New York City FC will hope one of the Academy's brightest prospects continues his development before eventually making the jump to the First Team in the coming years.
